Shivamogga MP BY Raghavendra said the Congress party and its other allies have lost the moral right to talk about women’s freedom and equal rights for women after they opposed the constitutional amendment that proposed to ensure 33% reservation for women in Parliament.
At a press conference in Shivamogga on April 20, Mr. Raghavendra said the Constitution Amendment Bill required a two-thirds majority in Parliament. However, Congress, DMK, TMC and other parties opposed the bill. In doing so, they lost a historic opportunity to secure reservation for women and committed a grave injustice against women in the country.
