The President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Harshvardhan Congress Committee Sapkal on Monday (June 9, 2025) called on a central government led by Narendra to submit a detailed and worldwide description of its development record over the past 11 years.
At the Nagpur press conference, Mr. Sapkal criticized the recent publicity campaign launched by the Union’s government, which emphasized its achievements, and urged any such account to be evaluated through international metrics such as human development index, happiness index and global hunger index.
“The Government Modi must answer why it could not fulfill key promises – including two crore jobs per year, doubling farmers’ income, introducing Swaminathan Commission and developing intelligent cities,” Sapkal said.
Congress leader, who claimed that Indian developmental momentum slowed under the Bharatiya Janata regime, said, “Under the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the country was on growth trajectory.
Mr. Sapkal, who answered questions about the possibility of unification between the fractions of the nationalist congress party, Maharashtra Navnirman hay and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray).
“As Maha Vikas Aghadi, we have attacked the last two elections together. Similarly, the Indian block combines against the forces undergoing democracy and the constitution. Our alliance will strengthen with those who have committed to protecting these values,” he said.
Mr. Sapkal added that the decision related to the alliance for the upcoming municipal elections will be taken at local level when consulting with other coalition partners.
