Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Monday accused the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of stifling development in Hyderabad by allegedly colluding with the Majlis Party earlier and continuing to play politics with it even now.
Addressing party workers during the Republic Day celebrations, Mr Rao accused the ruling Congress of going “hand in hand with the Majlis, the Muslim League and the Maoists”, whom he called the “MMM”. While the Maoists were being eliminated across the country, the Congress government in Telangana was providing them with “inspiration”, he alleged.
The BJP leader further alleged that the Congress had tied up with Jamaat-e-Islami, an organization which he said once talked about breaking up the country. Slogans like ‘Muslim is Congress, Congress is Muslim’, he said, were an attempt to disrupt communal harmony and divide society.
He urged the people of Telangana to reject the Congress and the BRS, calling both parties “corrupt” and appealing to voters to support the BJP in the upcoming municipal elections.
The BJP leader charged that if the BRS had committed grave injustice to all sections of the society during its tenure, the Congress government was no different. He claimed that there is no Rythu Bandhu for farmers, no fee reimbursement for students and no job opportunities for the unemployed.
He claimed that illegal immigrants were being added to electoral rolls in some areas with the help of local politicians. The Special Intensive Review (SIR) exercise, he said, was to “clean up the voter rolls by erasing the names of deceased persons and illegal voters”.
Earlier, Rajya Sabha member K. Laxman was felicitated by Mr. Rao for his role as Returning Officer in successfully conducting the election process of BJP National President Nitin Nabin.
