Ahead of the winter session of the Haryana Assembly on Tuesday, the Congress said it would move a no-confidence motion against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The council meeting is scheduled to begin on December 18.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party held here and presided over by former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
“The BJP has formed the government in Haryana by stealing votes. To achieve this, they have resorted to tactics like offering illegal incentives before elections and creating multiple votes for one person. Hence, a no-confidence motion will be filed against the government and its misdeeds will be exposed in the House,” Mr. Hooda said.
The meeting also strategized to raise public-facing issues in the upcoming session by bringing adjournment motions, attention-grabbing motions and zero-hour contributions. “The party has decided to file adjournment motions on issues such as lack or disrepair of sports facilities and equipment in sports grounds, fraudulent voters and misuse of government machinery in forming the government,” he said.
Problems on the table
He further said that issues related to saving the Aravalli range, compensation for waterlogging, increasing pollution, drug abuse, corruption, education and health will be raised through notification and short-term discussion proposals. The Congress will also demand a discussion on the assembly complex, the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue — central to the water-sharing dispute between Haryana and Punjab — poor law and order and the status of Chandigarh, he added.
