Leaders of the AP United Teachers Federation (APUTF) on Sunday expressed grave concern over the growing menace of sale of ganja and its subsequent addiction among students in the state.
In a statement, UTF state president N. Venkateswarlu and general secretary KSS Prasad said the government should take strict action against those resorting to selling ganja. They said awareness should also be increased against the drug menace.
UTF officials said the government should take cognizance of the intensity of the problem as chocolate, cigarettes and drug-laced soft drinks are easily available to students in areas close to educational institutions. They said teachers should play a key role in protecting students from the harmful effects of the drug menace.
