The Communist Party of the India-Marxist (CPI-M) said that exercise to update the National Citizens ‘Register (NRC) must be completed before a special intensive inspection (SIR) of the voters’ list in Assam.
On Monday (August 25, 2025), the Party State Committee said that a fast revision based on the Bihar model would not bring accurate election roles in Assam.

Suprakash Talukdar, State Secretary of CPI (M), accused the Indian Election Commission (ECI) of the abuse of Sir allegedly according to Bharatiya Janata Directives (BJP) and Bharatiya Janata lists (BJP) and Bihar lists (RSS). He said that most of those who have found themselves disennajezed are migrant workers, minorities, Dalits, back -class and women.
“On this background CPI (M) claims that in Assam it must be the first step in the completion of the NRC,” said Mr. Talukdar, emphasizing that the exercise was carried out in accordance with the 1985 Assam accord and monitored by the Supreme Court except that they exclude the date of the cutting out.
“However, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata party) on Wednesday and Assam refused to recognize as a civic document for dubious reasons. For six years, the CEO of the Indian registrar did not even say that Mr. Talukdar had not given.
The complete NRC proposal was published on August 31, 2019 and omitted 19.06 Lakh from 3.3 Crore applicants for lack of proper documents to introduce their citizenship.
“Complete NRC, including all real citizens, is necessary for a permanent solution to the problem of citizenship in Assam and a reliable basis for the detection and exclusion of illegal immigrants.
“The opening of Sir in Assam will cause a flawless election role without the first NRC completion. Citizenship is a highly sensitive matter in Assam, and the state government spreads municipal hatred by marking part of religious minorities as dubious citizens,” he said.
“Aadhaar injustice”
CPI (m) also protested against the decision of the State Cabinet to suspend Aadhaar for those who since October over 18.
“Aadhaar is an ongoing national trial and not proof of citizenship, as the Uidai (the unique identification office of India), the central government and even the Supreme Court. The Chief Minister of Hisant Bisw Sarma claims that the stopping of Aadhaar will prevent foreigners in citizenship.
CPI (m) destroyed the statement of the main minister that Assam had achieved 103% coverage of Aadhaar.
