
Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (AP-Genco) Managing Director P. Pulla Reddy directed the officials and the implementing agency to ensure that the Polavaram hydropower project is completed exactly within the stipulated time frame so that power generation can start simultaneously with the completion of the Polavaram irrigation project.
During an inspection of the project site on Wednesday, Mr. Pulla Reddy emphasized that the hydroelectric plant must be fully operational by the time the irrigation component is commissioned. He mandated the executive agency Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) to adopt structured planning mechanisms and strictly adhere to planned milestones.
“Under no circumstances should there be any delay. I will personally monitor the progress of the project,” said Mr. Pulla Reddy, emphasizing accountability and time-bound implementation. He directed the officials to carry out daily monitoring of the work and conduct regular high-level inspections to ensure compliance with the approved construction schedule. He assured that any bottlenecks that arise during the execution will be resolved immediately as soon as he is informed about it.
The inspection was attended by AP-Genco Thermal and Hydel Directors Sujay Kumar and Ashok Kumar Reddy; Chief Engineer (Civil) Ravindra Reddy; HPC Chief Engineer Visweswara Rao; Chief Engineers Chandrasekhar and C. Hanuma among others.
