The Association of Farmers Andr Pradesh (Aptfa) called on the State Government to ensure that the recently announced financial assistance for the cultivation of onion reaches the tenants’ farmers.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President of the Association A. Katamayya and General Secretary of P. Jamalayya welcomed the government’s decision to provide financial support for 50,000 GBPs to hectare on the onions.
However, they pointed out that most of these cultivation onions are tenants farmers, many of whom have not been issued cards for recognition of tenants due to limiting provisions in the law on crop cultivation Andr Pradesh.
They asked the government to identify farmers’ farmers who cultivated onions, issued them certificates of cultivation and extended the announced financial support directly to them.
The leaders emphasize the economic burden for tenants’ farmers and stated that the cultivation of one acre onion costs almost 1.5 ₹ Lakh, including more than 20,000 GBP paid as rent. The tenant’s farmers suffer from falling market prices. In order to prevent further anxiety, they urged the government to buy onions for 3,000 GBP per quinttal to protect the livelihood of the tenants of farmers.
