The chairman of the Agriculture and Agriculture Commission in Telangana, M. Kodand Reddy, called on the Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singha Chouhan to connect the National Employment System Mahatma Gandhi (MGNGS) with agricultural work to support small and marginal farmers.
In a letter passed personally during Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in Hyderabad said on Monday that more than 85% of Indian farmers fall into a small and marginal category and face challenges such as high input costs, lack of mechanization and lack of work.
Mr.Reddy, who held the portfolio of agriculture in the congress governments in combined Andhra Pradesh in 1989-94, said MGNGS integration with agriculture could alleviate labor costs and ensure early operations such as sowing, weed, harvest and harvest activities. This step would also provide a meaningful development of employment and skills for MGNGS staff, while supporting small tools and appropriate mechanization through a dedicated scheme.
In a separate letter, he applied for central financing to revive small irrigation tanks TELANGANY in programs such as Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchaye Yojana (for a drop of more crops), a fund for the development of rural infrastructure or a special package for renewing water departments.
