Commercial operations begin at a malt distillery in Telangana

Allied Blenders and Distillers’ malt distillery in Rangapur, Telangana has commenced commercial operations, the company said on Thursday.

The greenfield facility, with an approved production capacity of 4.4 million BL per annum, will help expand its domestic production footprint and vertically integrate its core supply chain. The facility will allow ABD to produce malt spirit in-house, giving it greater control over an important input used in its whiskey portfolio. This will help ensure consistent quality and ensure a steady and reliable supply of malt spirit as production ramps up.

In addition to meeting internal needs, the distillery will manage the development and maturation of new products, the company said.

Shifting critical manufacturing inputs within the firm increases operating margins, insulates key brands from market fluctuations and creates a robust foundation for developing next-generation spirits, CEO Amar Sinha said.

Rangapur has evolved into an operational anchor for the company. With grain distillation, PET bottle production, bottling and now malt distillation, it serves as an end-to-end integrated production center, ABD said.
