Pep Guardiola has jokingly called on West Ham United to spoil Arsenal’s title hopes after Manchester City closed the gap at the top of the table with a 3-0 win over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium. City’s victory moved them to within two points of Arsenal, although Mikel Arteta’s side still control the race and would secure the title with wins in the West’s remaining three games against Ham in London.

At the end of his press conference, Guardiola casually folded his arms in imitation of the crossed hammers from West Ham’s crest and said with a smile: “Come on Irons.” Arsenal’s final game after the West Ham game is against Burnley at home and an away trip to Crystal Palace. City, meanwhile, face Palace on Wednesday before taking on Bournemouth after their FA Cup final clash with Chelsea.
IS GUARDIOLA ENJOYING THE TITLE RUN?
Guardiola has admitted this before City’s title fate was not in their hands. However, the City boss said he was loving the final stretch when asked if fans could expect a few more twists and turns.
“I don’t know,” he said. “We’re up against a team quite similar to Liverpool in the past who are unbeaten in the Champions League final and we’ve been top of the league almost all season. It’s not in our hands so it depends on how the points drop, but all we can do is win again on Wednesday, play the FA Cup final and go to Bournemouth – I’d say it’s not the best place to go – and then there’s Aston Villa’s calendar.”
“But it’s simple. It’s only two weeks and the season will be over. I love it – I love being here again, finishing second again is the minimum, so I love it. The Carabao Cup is in our pocket, the cup final at Wembley is the best day of the season and I love it,” said Guardiola.
City play Palace, Bournemouth and Aston Villa in their last three games of the Premier League season.
