Collector urges officials to identify black spots to prevent road accidents in Krishna district

Krishna District Collector DK Balaji urged officials of various departments to cooperate with coordination and take steps to prevent road accidents.
Addressing a road safety committee meeting here on Monday, the Collector said that 121 people died and 305 were injured in 277 road accidents from January to May this year. Out of the total number of 113 two-wheelers and 73 cars, jeeps and other vehicles, there were accidents on the roads. Meanwhile, there were 138 accidents on national highways, 49 on state highways and 90 on other roads, Mr. Balaji said.
He directed NHAI and police officers to identify black spots, place high mast lights and warning boards on national and state highways to prevent accidents. Care should be taken to make it mandatory for two-wheeler riders to use helmets and avoid rash and drunk driving to control road accidents, the Collector said.
