District Collector A. Thameem Ansariya on Monday (October 27) visited several areas likely to be affected by Cyclone Montha in Tenali Division to assess the situation on the ground and review the relief measures being taken in response to the impact of the cyclone.
The Collector inspected Buckingham Canal at Kolakalur in Duggirala mandal and Nizampatnam Canal in Nandivelugu, besides surveying the East and West canals to check water levels and flow conditions. She directed officials to remain vigilant and ensure round-the-clock monitoring to prevent flooding in vulnerable areas.
She was accompanied during the visit by Tenali Sub-Collector Sanjana Sinha, Joint Director of Agriculture Ayitha Nageswara Rao, District Civil Supplies Manager K. Tulasi, Head of Water Resources Department Venkata Ratnam, tahsildars and other officials.
Ms. Ansariya also visited rehabilitation centers in the district including Athota, Vallabhapuram and Atmakur as well as Kothapeta in Mangalagiri where she reviewed arrangements for safe accommodation of people displaced from low-lying areas.
She emphasized that all departments must work closely together to ensure timely relief and protection of lives and property as the district continues to face the effects of the cyclone.
