District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani conducted an inquiry into the maternal mortality and two infant deaths reported in the last three months in West Godavari district on Wednesday.
In the last three months, K. Krupa’s wife and two infants – a 12-day-old girl Ch. Ratna Kumari and two-day-old baby boy K. Sowmya – passed away.
District Medical Officer and Health Officer Dr. B. Geetha Bhai was instructed to ensure that high-risk pregnant women are handled with care to prevent maternal mortality.
Ms Nagarani said: “Pregnant women with high-risk symptoms should be informed about the precautions they should take.”
The coordinator of district hospital services, Dr. P. Suryanarayana, District Immunization Officer Dr. Deva Sudhalakshmi, Gynecologist Bhimavaram Government Hospital Dr. Madhavi Kalyani and other officials.
