Collector announces ₹600 crore plan for drainage and sewage treatment plant in Prodattur

Kadapa District Collector Sreedhar Cherukuri said that the Proddatur constituency will be developed to its true potential as a prominent business center for the entire Rayalaseema region. The top priority will be the introduction of a 24 million liters per day (MLD) underground sewerage system and sewage treatment plant at an estimated total cost of ₹ 600 crore.

Mr. Sreedhar reviewed the development plans for Proddatur constituency during a meeting at his chambers on Tuesday along with Joint Collector Nidhi Meena, Proddatur MLA Nandyala Varadarajulu Reddy, Finance Divisional Officer (Jammalamadugu) Sireesha, Proddatur Municipal Commissioner Srinivasa Bhsildaraday and Tahsildaraday

In terms of drinking water supply, roads, electricity, street lighting, sanitation and civic amenities, the meeting emphasized the importance of ensuring balanced development between the city and the rural areas it is expanding into. “The rural roads will also be built at par with the city,” the collector said.

Referring to widespread allegations of irregularities in the allocation of housing projects for the poor, the Collector acknowledged the need to launch a vigilance probe into the activities of the housing department as well as private agencies involved in the project.

Similarly, he wanted planning officials to create awareness among real estate developers about rules related to approval of layouts, approvals, creation of roads, public spaces, parks and creation of infrastructure.
