MLA for Krishnaraja TS Srivatsa, which attracted the attention of the district Mysuru administration to the alleged illegal collection of parking fees from visitors at the foot of Chamundi hills.
Mr. Srivatsa told journalists in Mysur that he has encountered some people who stop vehicles near the hills of Chamundi and collect a parking fee from them.
When they asked, people claimed that they had an offer to withdraw parking fees from visitors who kept their vehicles at the foot, and even shared yellow colored chips bearing “Chamundi Hills” and “parking fee of 10 laps.
But Mr. Srivatsa said he was looking for an clarification of the same from Tahsildar Mysuru Taluk, as well as a Panchayat (PDO) official from Gram Panchayat Chamundi Hills. When both officials have denied any permit or offer to collect parking fees from vehicle owners at the foot of the hills of Chamundi, the Mla said he immediately contacted police officials Kishnaraja and asked them to collect information about persons for collecting “illegal” parking fees and reserved the case against them.
A large number of people are visited by Chamundi hills on Friday, Saturday and Sunday Ashada, and this is abused by ruthless people to blackmail money, Mr. Srivatsa said.
Mr. Srivatsa also raised doubts about the police officials of the city who have no information about this activity. “It cannot happen without the police, because people who collect a parking fee near the barricades that the police built,” Mla said.
He said that he also spoke to the deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikant Reddy about this matter and demanded that the criminal case be booked against participating persons.
