The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave warning for 11 districts of Telangana on Monday, December 22.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts.
Hyderabad and its surroundings will be mostly clear for the next 24 hours. “Mist or fog is very likely to prevail during the morning hours. Mist or fog is very likely to prevail during the night hours. Minimum temperatures are likely to be 2°C to 3°C below normal during the next two days. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29°C and 12°C,” the bulletin said.
Meanwhile, a total of 14 out of 33 districts recorded temperatures below 10°C between December 20 and 21, according to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data. Kohir in Sangareddy recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 5.3°C.
This was followed by 6.9°C in Moinabad (Rangareddy), 7°C in Nawabpet (Vikarabad), 7.2°C in Tiryani (Kumaram Bheem Asifabad), 7.6°C in Bheempoor (Adilabad), 7.9°C in Yeldurthy (Medak) and Gandhari (Nizamabad), 8.9°C in Akbarpet (Siddipet), 9.1°C in Uppal (Medchal Malkajgiri), 9.4 °C in Pembi (Nirmal), 9.5 °C in Narayanpet (Narayanpet), 9.8 °C in Gandeed (Mahabubnagar °C) and 9. Rudranna9.
The remaining 19 districts recorded temperatures in the range of 10°C to 13°C. Within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, University of Hyderabad recorded 8.3°C and Marredpally recorded 11.2°C.
