Residents of Delhi woke up to a pleasantly chilly morning on Monday, a day after the mercury in the national capital dipped to a low of 9 degrees Celsius, the coldest November day in three years, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The temperature of nearly 4.5 degrees below normal set a record after three years, as it did on November 29, 2022, when Delhi recorded the lowest temperature of 7.3 degrees Celsius in the month. In 2024, November 29 was the coldest day of the month, which means Delhi is reeling earlier than expected.
The IMD has predicted shallow fog for Monday and for the next 5 days. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle around 27 to 8 degrees Celsius during this period. The Met Office said in its latest press release on 16 November: “Minimum temperatures will be below normal (-1.6 to -3.0) to markedly below normal (-3.1 to -5.0°C) over the next 5 days.
He added: “Mostly clear skies Shallow fog in most places and light mist in isolated places during the morning hours of November 17, 2025. Partly cloudy skies on November 18 and 19, 2025 with shallow to moderate fog during the morning hours of November 18-22, 2025.”
