
Pepper and coffee made by tribal farmers athirappilly will soon hit the European market. The Memorandum of Understanding (MO) was signed for the export of coffee and pepper, which produced athirappilly tribal Valley Farmer Producer Company (FPC) operating under the Ministry of Agriculture.
Athirappilly Tribal Valley FPC grows coffee, pepper, turmeric and cocoa on 330 hectares of soil using completely organic methods. Agricultural products from this region have received high quality certification, including organic certification of the Rainforest Alliance alliance and organic PGS certification (participating warranty system) implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture.
AthirapPilly Tribal Valley FPC has signed agreements with JS & T Associates for coffee exports to Europe. According to the Minister of Agriculture P. Prasad, a memorandum at VakeWorks AB, a company based in Sweden, was signed for the export of organically grown pepper.
Outstanding assessment
Coffee Libérica of Athirappilly is already exporting to Europe with an excellent evaluation of foreign laboratory tests. Initially, exports will include Robusta and Libeica coffee varieties.

Chairman M. Ratheesh was represented by Tribal Valley athirappilly FPC, while VakeWorks AB was represented by Chief Operational Director Rajesh Rajagopal. According to the Memorandum of Understanding in the next three years, VakeWorks AB will procure two tons of pepper under the brand Athirappilly in the co -founder strategy. As for the export of coffee to Europe, the Associates, represented by Jin Joseph, has been committed to gaining 20 tons of coffee over the Tribal Valley athirapilly tribal Valley over the next five years.
This initiative is part of the Rebuild Keral Initiative (RKI) project, focused on comprehensive development in the agricultural sector, with a special focus on well -being and authorizing indigenous communities.
Standard of living
The AthirapPilly Tribal Valley Agricultural Project has successfully improved the standard of living of indigenous farmers in the region, while the efforts moved from crops to value and marketing. The project takes place from 2021 to 2024 and supports ecological agriculture methods such as PGS and multiple clop practices.
The establishment of an agricultural producer company exclusively for indigenous farmers – Athirapilly Tribal Valley FPC – allowed them to focus on increasing income by adding value and better market access. The company also set up a manufacturing unit and set up the Athirapily brand to sell its products. This means an important milestone in improving the livelihood of indigenous farmers who actively participate in storage, adding values and marketing of agricultural products within the model of the tribe ownership.
