SINDOOR Code Name Operation: India carried out late night strikes in terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied by Jammu and Kashmir and in the exercise called “Operation Sindoor” said early Wednesday morning.

The name Sindoor for Operation has its own meaning. Sindoor is a Hindi word for Vermillion, who married Hindu women, often relating to their foreheads.
It seems that the name of the operation is revenge on the way terrorists shot dead 26 people, mostly tourists, in the Pahalgam Valley Baisaran 22 April. All victims of the terrorist attack of Pahalgam were men who were reportedly asked to identify with names before they were killed.
The “Sindoor Operation” on Wednesday is seemingly reference to only men who have been selected on the basis of their faith before they were killed in Pahalgam.
“These steps come in connection with the terrorist attack of the Barbaric Pahalgam, in which 25 Indians and one Nepalese citizen were murdered. We live in a commitment that those responsible for this attack will be responsible,” India said in a statement.

Strategic meaning?
Pakistani military media arm, inter-service public relations, said India “hit three places from the air” -Bhawalpur in the Pakistan province of Pandjab, as well as boilers and muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
Muridke is the Lashkar-E-Taba headquarters that is assumed to be behind Pahalgam’s attack, and Bahawalpur is the basis of Jaish-E-Mohammed led by Masood Azhar.
