Coconut farmers at Vijayarai in Pedavegi mandal staged a protest demanding a fair price and said the rate has come down from Rs 26,000 to Rs 14,000 to Rs 15,000 per 1,000 coconuts.
State convener K. Srinivas of the Andhra Pradesh Coconut Farmers’ Association said that traders were reducing prices citing influx from Karnataka and Kerala and described the trend as market manipulation. The farmers are urging the government to fix the price at ₹20,000 per 1,000 coconuts and are warning of nationwide protests if their demand is ignored. Munnangi Subbareddy, Bollu Ramakrishna, Koneru Satish Babu, Gudibandi Veerareddy, Konda Vijay Prasad, Alapati Vasu and others were present.
