
Polestar Maritime Limited placed an order for two 70-ton rays of tensile tugs with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).
In addition, this is a three 70-ton draft that had previously closed with the UDUPI COCHIN SHIPYARD LTD, a completely owned subsidiary of CSL, said edition.
“The tugs will be built in the designs of Robert Allan Limited, the world’s leading design house for port tugs. CSL and UDUPI-CSL introduced Robert Allan tractors in India, adherence to the approved standard TUG design and announced by the Nirbhar Bharath Initiative.
CSL and UDUPI-CSL will be designed together on the basis of an agreement to share jobs in the CSL yard. The vessels will be powered by 2-Main engines 1838 kW and 2.7 m propeller from Niigata IHI Power Systems Co. Ltd. Japan.
The CSL Group has already delivered four tugs as part of the Make in India initiative. With this contract, the current book of orders contains 18 tugs and two green tugs, which are according to the edition at different stages of construction.
Madhu S. Nair, chairman and CEO of CSL, said CSL has committed to transforming this industry by introducing electric tugs of battery through the upcoming Green Tug (GTTP) program announced by the center.
