YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former MLA Malladi Vishnu on Sunday (December 28, 2025) slammed the coalition government, accusing it of widespread neglect of temple management in Andhra Pradesh and accusing it of hurting Hindu sentiments for political gains.
Speaking to the media at the YSR Congress Party’s Tadepalli headquarters here on Sunday, Mr. Vishnu said that ever since the coalition government came to power, there have been repeated incidents of mismanagement and sacrilege at major temples including Tirumala, Annavaram and Kasibugga. He alleged that devotees fear for their safety when visiting temples due to administrative failures and lack of basic precautions.
The former MLA accused the Chandrababu Naidu-led government of politicizing Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and turning a blind eye to repeated mistakes like poor vigilance, mismanagement of goshals and frequent cases of cow deaths. He alleged that when YSRCP leaders questioned these issues, cases are being registered against them.
Mr. Vishnu also alleged that incidents of illegal cow slaughter and large-scale beef storage, especially around Visakhapatnam, went unchecked under the coalition regime. He also cited incidents of stampedes, power outages in major temples and lack of coordination between departments as evidence of governance failure.
In contrast to the previous YSRCP government, he said several reforms had been introduced to protect temple property and improve governance. He claimed that people were openly expressing their anger over the coalition government’s handling of the temples and demanded immediate remedial measures to restore the confidence of devotees.
