Bhatia, publishing on X (formerly Twitter) on the 250th anniversary of American independence, wrote: “happy 250. Anniversary of my adopted country”, adds American glass emoders and Indian flag. He watched it with the Indian message and said India could achieve the same prosperity as the US if there was a shift in how people think. “The way I see it can become India as prosperous as the US – just change as his citizens think,” he wrote.
Faces resistance for earlier criticism of the Indian economy
This is not the first time that Bhatia faced criticism for his views on India. Last month he published on X highlighting the level of poverty in the country. Referring to the economic pride of India, he questioned the celebration of the fourth largest economy in the world, while millions are still fighting daily.
In a post that attracted sharp reactions online, Bhatia wrote: “Instead of hanging her head with shame that 415 million people in India will survive to \ $ 3.10/day \ (approx. £265/day), you boast of being the 4th largest economy in the world. Too bad for you. ”
His comments raised a debate on social media, with many users questioning his contributions to India while living abroad and accused of repeatedly criticizing his home country.
