Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), Southern Circle, V. Venkatasubramanian, has completed a three-day statutory safety inspection of Namma Metro’s 7.5 km Pink Line elevated corridor between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere.
The inspection was conducted from Tuesday to Thursday and covered six stations of the corridor — Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM-B, JP Nagar Phase 4, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere.
On Tuesday, Mr. Venkatasubramanian and his team inspected the main line and related infrastructure using a motorized cart. The inspection continued on Wednesday with checks at the Kothanur depot along with train trials and testing on the main line.
On the last day, Thursday, the team inspected the Operations Control Center (OCC) at Baiyappanahalli, according to BMRCL officials.
“CMRS inspection is a key legal requirement before opening the corridor for passenger traffic. Permission to open the section will be issued subject to BMRCL complying with the observations and conditions laid down during the inspection,” the official added.
BMRCL had earlier received a speed certificate from the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) in August 2026. This was followed by an interim sanction by the Rolling Stock Board and certification by the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) for the signaling system.
Once opened, the Pink Line overhead corridor will increase the operational network of the Namma Metro from the existing 96.10 km to 103.60 km.
