The heart electrophysiology and the Stimulating team on the Christian Medical College (CMC) successfully performed its first laser extraction of cardiac management (wires).
According to the press release, the innovative procedure was performed in a patient who faced the infection after the cardiac implantation.
Over the past 15 years, the team has completed more than 350 lead extraction, primarily using mechanical instruments – testimony of their expertise, which were recognized by prestigious scientific journals.
In the comprehensive area of heart care patients with implanted devices such as pacemakers, sometimes fight infections that infiltrate equipment or potential customers. These infections are notoriously resistant to antibiotics and often require invasive removal of infected equipment and lead to health restoration.
Extraction of conductors built into the heart represents serious challenges – the risk of tearing the heart muscle during the process can lead to serious complications, including excessive bleeding. The longer the wires consist in the heart, the greater the adherence to them, thereby amplifying the risks associated with removal.
The pioneering team CMC has long been in the forefront of lead extraction techniques. The arrival of laser technology will be presented in the new era, which makes these complex procedures more smoother and more efficient for healthcare workers. With this advanced tool, which is now available in India, the potential for easier and less time -consuming extraction could significantly increase the patient’s results, the edition said.
