Christian Medical College (CMC) and Federal Bank signed the steps forward on Tuesday to build a new pharmacy college in Vellore and financially support the care of cancer patients as part of the Sanjeevani initiative, CSR initiative at the bank.
According to the press release, the agreement was exchanged between KVS Manian, CEO and CEO, Federal Bank and Dr. Vikram Mathews, director of CMC Vnge. “We are looking forward to further expansion of our reach in education and holistic care of cancer patients,” said Mathews, director of CMC.
The construction of a new pharmacy university in CMC Bagayam Campus in Vellore is supported by the federal bank of Hormis Memorial Foundation with a grant of 13.73 GBP Crore. A new college of equipment with an area of 40,476 square feet will be for 2.5 acre plot.
Pharmacy College will be the first of its kind in the Veloreské district to train a new generation of pharmacists at the highest standards of pharmaceutical education. The university will be equipped with laborators, lectures and research facilities and will ensure that students receive world education that will prepare them for the complexity of modern pharmacy practice.
With the expected annual income of 60 university students, the university is scheduled to start admission for the academic year 2026–27. “Cancer continues to be one of the worst challenges of our time, which affects families not only medically, but also emotionally and financially. We needed partners we could ban on, and CMC Vellore excelled as a lighthouse of trust and perfection,” said Mr. Manian, Bank’s MD.
In addition, in 2025, a partnership will continue to support cancer patients as part of the Federal Bank’s initiative in Sanjeevani, which began last year (2024). A total of 764 cancer patients received subsidies for the treatment of cancer in CMC Vellore, for pre -diagnostic tests, treatment such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy and treatment within the initiative, the edition said.
