CM Vijay has no locus standi to talk about obscenity against women, says Udhayanidhi

Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday (September 7, 2026) said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay had no standing to advise others to refrain from making “double and triple meaning comments” against women as the quality of the films he acted in, the scenes in them and what he preached contradicted it.

“If we talk about them, it will not bear. What is the attitude of his friends Vishnu Reddy, Sujai Reddy and Anil Reddy? Why have you handed over the mines and responsibility to them? We will release the documents,” he told reporters after staging a walkout from the assembly to protest the Speaker’s refusal to answer in the House.

Asked about spokesperson JCD Prabhakar’s claim that the DMK was indulging in protests to prevent the Chief Minister’s speech from reaching the people, Mr. Udhayanidhi said the DMK sought permission to respond only after the Chief Minister completed his reply.

“He (the spokesman) agreed to allow us to speak. But he subsequently denied it. We don’t know under what compulsion he denied us. That is why we are meeting the media,” he said.

Asked about the Chief Minister’s claim that he has evidence to support his allegations of corruption against the DMK, Mr. Udhayanidhi said these were mere allegations.

“There is no evidence. We also have similar evidence. There are allegations against the PWD minister,” he said.

Mr Udhayanidhi said the Chief Minister and his government were not ready to say anything against the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Home Minister Amit Shah.

“One minister spoke about the BJP and another minister demanded its expulsion. They have no guts or courage. He is a dummy chief minister. He memorized a text written by someone for three days and delivered it today,” he alleged.

Mr. Udhayanidhi said DMK members were present in the House to hear the reply to the 15 questions raised by him.

“I was waiting to take notes. But after 15 minutes he started leveling the allegations. They were false and contained wrong information. It is our right to object to lies and false allegations. He agreed to allow us to respond after the chief minister finished his speech. But he refused permission,” he said.

Mr Udhayanidhi alleged that the Chief Minister had supplied content meant only for (social media) reels and film dialogues and said the DMK members were unable to control their emotions and raised their voices.
