Chief Minister VD Satheesan on Wednesday (July 15, 2026) launched this year’s Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery, the first prize of which has now been increased to ₹30 crore.

Mr. Satheesan unveiled the lottery at a brief event held at his office in the presence of officials of the State Lotteries Directorate. Tickets will be on sale from July 20. The draw is scheduled for September 26.

The directorate announced an increase in the first price from ₹25 crore to ₹30 crore only a few days ago. This is the highest prize money offered by the government-run Kerala state lotteries in its history.

The lottery ticket price remains unchanged at ₹500.

The prize structure of the Thiruvonam Bumper is as follows: First Prize (₹30 million), Second Prize (₹1,000 each for 20 winners), Third Prize (₹25 million for 20 winners – two in each series), Fourth Prize (₹5,00,000 each – one winner per series), Fifth Prize (₹12,000,000 per series), Fifth Prize (₹12,000,000 per series) series) (5,000 to 54,000 winners), seventh prize (2,000 to 81,000 winners), eighth prize – 1,000 to 1,24,000 winners, ninth prize (500 to 2,75,400 winners), consolation prize (up to ₹ nine lakh).

The total prize in this lottery is ₹125.56 million.

The directorate warned buyers not to fall prey to fraudsters. They were asked to buy only from reputable agents and dealers. State lotteries are not sold through social media platforms or digital payment links, the company said.

State lotteries are an important source of revenue for the Kerala government. Chief minister VD Satheesan, who also holds the finance portfolio, announced in the state legislative assembly in July that the Congress-led UDF government was planning a comprehensive overhaul of state lotteries. The proposed measures will include a review of the prize structure and commissions of lottery agents.

Additional Chief Secretary KR Jyothilal and Lotteries Director Anju KS were present at the Thiruvonam Lottery launch.
