Hubballi-Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginakai said that there was widespread corruption in the Gruha Lakshmi scheme and to cover it up, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is now talking about checking the beneficiaries.

Mr Tenginakai was speaking to pressmen in Hubballi on Wednesday before attending various programmes, including a voluntary blood donation camp, organized to mark his birthday.

Mr. Tenginakai said they had earlier exposed irregularities in the implementation of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme and the then Siddaramaiah-led government was trying to cover it up.

“Now both the chief minister and the minister in question have changed. Who should people ask?” Mr. Tenginakai tried to know.

Stating that Mr. Shivakumar was trying to cover up the issue through a review of beneficiaries, he said they would raise the issue in the upcoming legislative session.

In Priyank Kharge’s letter to RSS, Mr. Tenginakai said that Mr. Kharge should first try to understand what RSS is and how it works.

Mr. Kharge’s remark is unnecessarily creating trouble in Karnataka, he said, adding that if Mr. Kharge really wants to know about the RSS, he should visit the Shakha of the Sangh. Even an hour-long visit will help him learn how it works, he said.
