Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will attend the Police Day Celebration at Goshamahal Police Stadium on October 21, according to a statement by Director General of Police B. Shivanand Reddy. The event will start at 9.30 am and the Chief Minister is scheduled to address the gathering.
The DGP said Police Memorial Day is being observed in Telangana from October 21 to 31, with a number of commemorative programs planned across the state. The celebrations will continue till National Unity Day, which is celebrated on October 31 to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
This year, 191 policemen have lost their lives across India, including five from Telangana. Police Remembrance Day has been observed since 21 October 1959 in memory of ten CRPF personnel who were martyred at Hot Springs in Ladakh following a surprise attack by Chinese forces on a patrol led by SI Karan Singh.
Telangana Suraksha will release a booklet highlighting the bravery and sacrifice of police officers who laid down their lives in the line of duty last year. Placards and placards will be displayed at key public places to honor the memory of the martyrs.
The families of the deceased police officers will be visited between October 22 and 24 to address social issues and pay tributes at memorials in their birthplaces. Blood donation camps will be held across the state at DGP office, commissionerate, district headquarters and TGSP battalions with the support of Indian Red Cross and police cultural teams.
Bike rallies will be held between October 25 and 27 in various neighborhoods to promote unity and peace, while police bands will perform in public places, including the Tank Bund on weekends throughout the commemoration period.
