Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accused BRS and BJP of “holding back Hyderabad’s growth and plundering Telangana’s resources” and appealed to Jubilee Hills voters to “vote after comparing the results of Congress in development with those of BRS and BJP”.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Friday, he said, “From 2004 to 2014, Congress ruled both at the Center and the state. From 2014 to 2023, BRS was in power here and BJP at the Centre. Compare what each has achieved and then decide your vote.”
Enumerating Congress’s contribution to Hyderabad’s transformation, the chief minister said, “International airport, metro, knowledge centres, IT expansion, pharmaceuticals, all these development steps started under Congress regime. Hyderabad’s revenue growth is based on Congress’ long-term planning.”
Union minister Terming G Kishan Reddy and BRS labor president KT Rama Rao as “bad brothers” accused them of derailing major projects. “BRS and BJP have stopped the ITIR project to Hyderabad,” he said. Had both BJP and BRS supported us, we could have expanded the metro, brought Godavari waters and cleaned the Musi. “Why are you preventing Musi’s rejuvenation, Kishan Reddy? Why did you give up on KTR?” he asked.
The chief minister also accused the BRS of encroaching on 44 of the city’s 695 lakes, including Bathukamma Kunta, Sunnam Cheruvu and Nalla Cheruvu, which were restored by HYDRAA. KTR is targeting HYDRAA politically because the loot is now exposed, he claimed.
He challenged both KTR and Mr. Kishan Reddy to show one project which created jobs for unemployed youth. “We occupied government posts and KTR filled the city with drugs,” he noted. He further accused BJP of saving KTR, KCR and Mr. Harish Rao from cases because of their understanding. The Center has tied the state’s hands in arresting those who failed in Kalesvaram, electric car plant and phone tapping.
The Chief Minister confidently declared that the BRS would be defeated and the BJP would lose its deposit. He also asked BJP Ministers Mr. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar if they were ready to accept the challenge of keeping the deposit.
Mr. Revanth Reddy also alleged that former CM “KCR squandered over ₹ 1 lakh crore on projects like Kaleshwaram and built Pragati Bhavan for himself and his family. He demolished the secretariat just because of his son’s vaastu beliefs and built a new one. Did anyone get a job because of it? Did it have poor benefits? Even a call center was built.”
