Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that quality education and healthcare form the key elements for the all-round progress of the country.
He emphasized the need for revolutionary changes in the education system and skill development besides special focus on world-class facilities. The chief minister was speaking at the NITI Aayog board meeting in New Delhi on Thursday, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Providing quality education and healthcare are cornerstones for the central government’s Viksit Bharat – 2047 goal.
He explained to the participants the Socio, Economic, Education, Employment, Political and Caste (SEEEPC) survey conducted by the Telangana government which revealed several key aspects. A survey of 3.55 million people belonging to 242 different castes showed that lack of education was a causative factor in social backwardness, in stark contrast to the popular belief that caste played a major role. It was therefore imperative to provide quality education to the people pursuing the goals of Viksit Bharat in the country.
Mr. Reddy informed the participants that he was also holding the education portfolio as he strongly believed that education was the solution to several problems. Although successive governments have taken steps to provide free education, providing quality education has become a challenge for them. Therefore, the state government has initiated revolutionary measures to ensure quality education to students besides creating a conducive atmosphere for enrollment of students in Telangana public schools. Steps were taken to ensure that education from nursery to intermediate was provided on the same campus, and they exuded confidence that Young India’s boarding schools would break down caste barriers among students.
The Telangana government has started work to set up Young India Boarding Schools in all assembly constituencies, he said, inviting Chief Ministers and senior officials of other states to visit these institutions and study their functioning. Emphasizing the need for skill development among the youth in light of the advent of artificial intelligence, he said that the Telangana government has initiated several projects such as Regional Circle and Green Energy projects to create employment potential on a large scale. Steps have been taken to impart global level skills to the budding youth through a skills university and convert ITIs into advanced technology centers in collaboration with the Tata group, which would invest ₹2,100 crore in the project.
Task Force M-6
He explained the ambitious target of the state government to achieve a state economy of USD 3 trillion by 2047 and emphasized the need for the central government to approve the IIMs of the state which already had premier institutions like IITs, IIITs, Nalsar, ISB and others. The Chief Minister said that six major cities, including Hyderabad and Bangalore, are the engine of the country’s growth and there is a need to set up an exclusive task force M-6 in the Prime Minister’s Office for the all-round development of these cities.
The Central Government should sanction ₹1,000 crore for each city for their accelerated development. He also requested the Center to extend financial assistance for Regional Ring Road, second phase of Metro, rejuvenation of Musi, Bharat Future City and other projects.
