Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said energy transformation, climate action and inclusive growth will form the backbone of Telangana’s march towards Vision 2047.
Addressing a session titled Powering Telangana 2047 at the global summit, he said the state is driven by both national duty and moral obligation as it aims to become a $3 trillion economy with clean energy at the heart of this transformation.
He said Telangana has already started reshaping its energy landscape through a determined drive for 100% clean mobility, Hyderabad’s aim to host India’s largest e-bus fleet by 2030 and a plan to add 20 GW of new renewable energy capacity to the existing 11.4 GW.
While the state has secured uninterrupted electricity, doubled contracted capacity and ranked among the states with the highest per capita energy consumption, the next three decades will present formidable challenges. Power demand is projected to exceed 1.39 lakh MW and 780 TWh by 2047, levels that cannot be met through traditional approaches.
He said that Telangana will need large-scale renewal of renewables, battery and pumped storage systems, flexible and efficient thermal capacity, stronger transmission backbone, digitally managed and resilient urban distribution grids and above all, a strong financial ecosystem.
