In the Tamil Nadu Class 12 State Board exam results released by Education Minister B. Chandra Mohan on Friday (May 8, 2026) in Chennai, the overall pass percentage this year has marginally increased to 95.2%.
Erode district recorded the highest pass percentage of 98.8, while Sivaganga district stood second with 98.05% passes, according to the data.
The success rate this year slightly exceeded last year’s 95.03%. The total number of students who appeared for the public exams this year is 7,91,654, which is a slight drop from last year when 7,92,494 students appeared for the exam.
Of the 7.91 million students who wrote the Class 12 public exams at 3,412 examination centers, 4.1 million were girls and 3.7 million were boys.

While 97% of the girls passed the exams, a total of 93.19% of the boys passed the public exam.
As many as 2,639 schools out of the total 7,536 schools in the state recorded 100% pass rate. A total of 489 government schools recorded a pass percentage. Private schools have outperformed other schools this year with a pass rate of 98.72, while government schools have recorded 92.16% and government-aided schools have recorded a 96.14% pass rate.
Of the 8,855 candidates with disabilities who wrote the exam, 6,811 registered and passed. A total of 250 prisoners applied for the test, of which 238 passed. As many as 16,024 students scored a cent in any subject. Computer Science scored the most cents with 6,945 students scoring 100. A total of 83 students scored 100 in Tamil, a significant drop compared to last year’s 135.
After the abolition of the 11th class public examinations this year, an arrears examination was held for which 20,444 candidates appeared and 8,491 passed the examination.
Students can check their results at or www.dge.tn.gov.in by entering their roll number and date of birth. This time students can also check their results through WhatsApp by contacting 7845252525.
The Directorate of Government Examinations said that the provisional certificates will be available from May 13. Class 11 and 12 students can also get scanned copy of answer sheet from 12th May to 16th May. Students can apply for reconsideration from June 5th to June 8th.
Supplementary examinations for class 12 will be held from 29th June to 7th July and for class 11 (Delay) from 8th July to 16th July. Students can apply for supplementary exams from May 18 to June 2.
In a post on X, outgoing Chief Minister MK Stalin congratulated the students on their results. He urged the students to focus on higher education to achieve excellence in life. “Those who could not make it through this time must not lose heart, seize the next opportunities that come your way and move forward. Education is the key to success in life,” he said.
