The protest, which was discarded by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisad (ABVP) and Yuva Morch against the General Minister of Education V. Sivankutty over the question of “Bharat Mat” on Saturday led to a conflict between police and activists in Tali in Kozhikode. The situation escalated the involvement of activists from the Indian Federation of Students (SFI) and India Democratic Youth in India (Dyfi). Police brought the situation under control by arresting activists ABVP and Yuva Morch.
Minister V. Sivankutty was in Tali to start a seminar in connection with the National SFI conference in the Mam Mam jubilee in Kandamkulum and also with the event of the Department at the High School of Zamorin. Activists ABVP and Yuva Morch have tried to block their convoy near Tali Mahadeva by increasing black flags. The police hit the protest and clean the way for the minister. Meanwhile, SFI and Dyfi activists reportedly attacked ABVP and Yuva Morch, even though they were in police custody.
Meanwhile, P. Reghunath, the President of BJP (North Zone), Kozhikode, claimed that the police attacked ABVP and Yuva Morch without provocation when they left the BJP district committee, just a few meters from the jubilee hall. He claimed that activists heading for Kidson Corner, where the party has already planned to protest the problem of “Bharat Mat”. He also claimed that the police had created an opportunity for SFI-Di activists to attack ABVP-YUV Morch activists. He demanded that the police take steps against SFI activists who were allegedly involved in the attack.
Later, activists of the fraternal movement eliminated protest against the minister and demanded more plus two seats, which led to a minor oscillation between them and SFI activists.
He used to talk to the media in the government guest house, Mr. Sivankutty claimed that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) stimulated ABVP and Yuva Morch activists to defend him at every step. He also claimed that activists destroyed the national flag on their car during the Thiruvananthapuram protest. Mr. Sivankutty’s notes on the use of “Bharat Mat” portrait in Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram during the official program had previously provoked controversy.
