CJP’s Abhijit Dipke says government blocked video of his plea to Delhi Police, reposts it: ‘What was objectionable’ | Today’s news
Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, on Thursday (July 9) claimed that the government had taken down a video showing him “begging” Delhi Police personnel for tents.
He shared a screenshot of this deleted X post and said, “This video has been blocked by the government in India.”
“What was objectionable about this video? I was just begging the police to let us set up tents against the rain,” Dipke wrote in his post on the social network.
Along with his post, he shared a picture of a previous post where he was seen at the feet of a police official pleading with him.
“I request the police authorities to please allow us to put up tents so that the students on hunger strike are protected from the rain,” he wrote in the caption of his now-deleted post.
Another screenshot contained a message that read: “Due to local regulations, this content is restricted to X.”
Undeterred, Dipke reposted the video on X saying, “I’m reposting the video because the government in India has blocked it.”
Ashutosh Ranka, CJP National Spokesperson also said, “The video of Dipke asking the Delhi Police for the Tirpals has now been taken down from social media. If such speed had been used to stop the paper leak, we would not have been sitting in the front row at Jantar Mantar.”
According to PTI, the youth-led group accused the Delhi Police of preventing the protesters from bringing tarps to the protest site despite heavy rain.
CJP announces parliamentary march on July 20
The Cockroach Janta Party started as a satirical online platform before becoming a student movement after India’s Chief Justice Surya Kant allegedly compared young people to “cockroaches” and “parasites”.
The department demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities.
On Thursday, she announced that she is peacefully marching to Parliament on the first day of the monsoon session on July 20, even as her protest at Jantar Mantar entered its 20th day on Thursday amid heavy rain.
In a statement issued on Thursday morning, the CJP said her July 20 parliamentary march will start from Jantar Mantar along with educationist and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28.
The CJP called on students, parents and citizens across the country to join the march to seek justice for students who allegedly ended their lives after glitches in competitive exams, to demand a transparent and credible exam system and press for Pradhan’s resignation.
