CJP chief released after court rejects police plea to extend custody

After spending seven days in jail, Cockroach Janta Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were released on the orders of the Special Executive Magistrate’s Court in Delhi. The two leaders were arrested after the October 13 protest at Jantar Mantar and were kept in judicial custody while the police sought preventive measures against them. The court eventually ordered their release after they submitted undertakings promising not to stage protests at Jantar Mantar as long as the site remained marked and did not disturb public peace.
