CJP, Center to act at Delhi's Constitution Club today as protests continue: Here's all you need to know

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is likely to hold talks with the government at a neutral venue on Friday after the government agreed to its request for a meeting. The party said it would continue to push for its demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, one of the basic demands of the students.

The discussion will be held at the Constitution Club of India at around 12:30 PM.

CJP’s remarks on the meeting with the Centre

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das told reporters on Thursday that a discussion with the Center had been sought and welcomed the government’s decision to hold it at a neutral venue. Das said, “A discussion has been called for tomorrow; we are very happy that the government has agreed to our request to have it at a neutral venue. The Constitution Club of India has been selected,” ANI reported.

Another spokesperson, Vaishnavi Gaur, said: “The government has agreed to meet us at a neutral venue. We will make our demands, which we have been consistent with since day one. Four demands: resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Second is compensation to families… All FIRs against innocent protesters should be quashed.”

Sonam Wangchuk has ended her hunger strike

The development came hours after climate activist and educationist Sonam Wangchuk ended a 26-day hunger strike at Medanta Hospital in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.

In a post on X, Wangchuk said he had ended his hunger strike, adding that the move came after lengthy negotiations over various conditions and in light of possible violence in the country. He said, “Right now, in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda & Dr. Jitendra Singh and senior leaders of the Apex Body of Leh Ladakh, I have finally broken my fast after 26 days. Before this, 65 members of Parliament from various political parties visited or signed letters urging me to break the fast. This was done after a long negotiation and I will explain the conditions of each country in detail about the possible violence. video, meanwhile I urge you all to be very vigilant and nowhere did they allow violence of any kind.”

On Friday, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke noted that Wangchuk’s life was “too dear for this country” after he ended his 26-day hunger strike, adding that the climate activist had “put his own life on the line” for “awakening the conscience of the entire nation”.

In a post on X, Dipke wrote, “We are relieved and grateful that Sonam sir has ended his hunger strike after 26 days. Thank you sir for your extraordinary courage and sacrifice. By putting your own life on the line, you have awakened the conscience of the entire nation. Your life is too precious for this country.” He further noted, “The Janta Cockroach Party’s peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.”
