
The municipal police resumed their focus on long -waiting cases of missing persons after successfully solved two important cases in just three months, which later found out that they were murders. Investigations led by separate police units under the supervision of higher officers have now entered a more structured phase, carefully watching the Chief of the District Police (the city of Kozhikode) T. Narayanan.
The missing case of Vijil Vijayana, who recently cracked by the Police Eathur, and the case of Hemachandran, examined by the Police of the Faculty of Medicine, was classified as a suspicious murder. In both cases, the decisive recovery of skeletal remains was decisive for determining the crime. The leading officer associated with the probe confirmed that these recovery, supported by forensic and digital evidence, helped identify the victims and determine the cause of death.
Representative of the police commissioner Arnu K. Pavathran oversees the progress of the investigation on the instructions of the district police chief. Regular reviews are underway to ensure coordination between special investigation teams. Assistants of Police Commissioners A. Umesh (Medical College) and T. Ashraf (Kozhikode) played key roles in driving questions that led to recent findings.
Police sources indicated that several cases in the district had links to crime, including drug abuse, financial disputes and sexual exploitation cases such as honey traps. After recent breakthroughs, the ministry favored several cases for comprehensive investigations.
Digital evidence, including records of call detail and online activity, is thoroughly examined in cooperation with cybernetics experts from the Hi-Tech Crime Inquel Cell. Officers also revise earlier testimonies and indirect evidence that previously seemed unconvincing.
“Many cases remain control. Police units apply updated forensic techniques and advanced interdepartmental coordination to monitor potential customers that have previously stopped,” the crime officer said. At the district level, weekly and monthly reviews of progress are held, and the entry from various station officers processed reports of the missing person revealed.
“The new effort is part of the wider strategy to deal with public concerns about unresolved cases and ensure responsibility in the investigation. We recall the public to come up with any information that can help the ongoing probe,” said Station House in Kozhikode. He added that the recent results “added momentum” to the efforts of the department and emphasized the importance of permanent monitoring with modern investigative tools.
Meanwhile, members of the local Action Council were formed to seek investigations at a high level of disappearance of the entrepreneur Mohammed Attoora, aka Mom, claimed that the police “unfortunately failed” for their complaint, even after the creation of a special team under the penalty branch. “Despite the police, it boasts advanced techniques, in this case they remain helpless, which was registered immediately after its disappearance in August 2023,” they said.
