The Director General (DG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Tuesday (November 25, 2025) awarded the ‘Directorate General Disc’ to 19 personnel for their outstanding operational performance during Operation Sindoor in protecting the vital Uri hydropower projects about 10 km from the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The citation said the CISF troops “neutralized enemy drones targeting the facility and secured armory stocks by rapidly redistributing weapons to prevent potential destruction.”
Apart from about 250 civilians, CISF personnel provided security for the Uri-I and Uri-II hydropower projects in May 2025.
In retaliation for the May 7 Operation Sindoor by the Indian armed forces, the Pakistan Army launched intense and indiscriminate shelling in Indian territory, threatening vital infrastructure, including the Uri hydroelectric projects, and endangering the nearby civilian population, the CISF said.
“CISF units stationed barely 8 to 10 kilometers from the border crossing found themselves at the forefront of this sudden escalation at the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) installations. When the shelling hit close to residential complexes, CISF personnel evacuated civilians, including women, children, NHPC employees and their families, to prevent evacuation50 and their families2. Even as live rounds landed dangerously close to the compound, personnel continued to reinforce bunkers, maintaining communication lines through POLNET and satellite systems and providing emergency assistance,” the CISF said.

Other officers in charge of the DG drive are Inspector Deepak Kumar Jha; Sub-Inspectors Anil Kumar and Deepak Kumar; Assistant Sub-Inspectors Rajeev Kumar and Sukhdev Singh; Head Constables Gurjit Singh, Manoj Kumar Sharma and Ram Lal; and constables Sushil Vasant Kamble, Razique Ahmad Abdul Rafique, Ravindra Gulab Wankhede, Tridev Chakma, Sohan Lal, Mufeed Ahmad, Mahesh Kumar and Sandenaboina Raju.
