Danielle Collins responded to criticism after a dramatic departure from the first round of the Cincinnati Open 2025, where she was visibly emotional during her match during her match against American Taylor Townsend. A 31-year-old woman who was struggling with a herniated disc was impressed by pain-physical and mental-when she pushed the match just to be defeated in direct sets. Townsend appeared victorious with a score of 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), which ended Collins’ campaign in the first round.
The first set was largely one -sided, but the second set was much more competitive and Collins pushed it on Tiebreak. Under the growing pressure, her frustration spilled. In the middle of the journey, she turned to her team in tears and questioned why things were so painful. The moment became viral and led Collins to respond to social media, where it prevented its reaction and spoke of a hidden challenge to compete with serious back injuries.

Taking Collins to his Instagram story, he wrote: “Anyone who has a hernic disk knows my pain. It is no surprise that the keyboard warriors do not understand or relate because they were too busy sitting on their buttocks who judged people who showed up and try to make the best.
While Collins’ emotional collapse and the fight against injuries were dominated by narration, the match was also created by a small but striking act of sports behavior: after the last Handshake Collins, the court left the court and Taylor Townsend won her forgotten bag and handed it over to Collins’s team.
Collins has recently fought for the consistency-Magda Linette in the first round at the Open DC Open (7-5, 6-4) and then lost the close three hundreder Coco Gauff at the National Bank Open in Montreal (7–5, 4–6, 7-6).
Collins now turns her attention to the US Open, which runs from August 24 to September 7, 2025.
