CIAL to prepare a master plan for the next 25 years of development
A next-generation cargo village and a dedicated heliport will be major components of the master plan prepared by Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) to focus on development over the next quarter century, according to company officials.
The spatial plan coincides with the airport company’s 25th anniversary celebrations. It will cover development in airport, terminal, cargo, land, connectivity, utilities, commercial expansion and sustainability, while anticipating land requirements for future growth. The consultancy for the preparation of the plan was awarded for ₹ 7.83 crore with a ten-month period, according to the statement.
An analysis of the aviation demand forecast for 25 years will be developed. A feasibility assessment for a second runway and associated taxiway/ apron infrastructure will also be carried out. According to the statement, the business and development strategy for the next-generation Cargo Village and dedicated heliport, including terminal infrastructure, hangars and connectivity, will be explored.
