I-League Title Row Explained: Inter Kashi, Churchill Brothers are waiting for the AIFF verdict
Churchill Brothers finished intermediately at the top of the table with 40 points after the last round 6 April. However, their title and Isl promotion were subject to the result of the disputed points of Inter Kashi from their 13th January against the Namdhari SC, which won 2-0.
The AIFF Disciplinary Committee gave 3-0 victories and three points Inter Kashi after he decided that Namdhari had built an “unfit player”. This decision would bring Inter Kashi to 42 points, enough to get the title. However, the Board of Appeal later issued an order “non -functional and in non -act” until the final hearing.
After the delayed trial, including the deferred negotiations of April 12 for the Namdhari Council with citing the “illness”, the Appeal finally decided on Friday and canceled the order of the Disciplinary Commission and decided in favor of Namdhari.
The Committee noted in its verdict: “… Churchill Brothers FC Goa, Inter Kashi and Namdhari FC scored 40 points, 39 points and 32 points. In accordance with Churchill Brothers FC Goa, Inter Kashi and Namdhari FC standing on No. 1, No. 2 and 6.
He also ordered the AIFF to distribute the medal “immediately” in accordance with the final position.
The committee was headed by Judge Rajesh Tandon, Supreme Court’s Chief Advocate and former Judge of the High Court in Uttarakhand. Inter Kashi responded to the verdict and issued a statement called the “lengthy” process and signaled their intention to escalate the matter of CAS.
“Inter Kashi welcomes the order of the AFF Appeal Committee after a lengthy process, which was to be packed before 6 April,” he read the club statement.
“The conclusion of hearing and by exhausting all processes of internal dispute resolution allows Inter Kashi to approach time for a truly free and fair hearing of this matter.”
“From the very beginning, Inter Kashi was clear that the case includes a simple interpretation of the rules and regulations based on some indisputable facts.
“Inter Kashi will not maintain any stone to ensure justice, and in the meantime, any celebration may prove to be premature,” the club added.
