The District Committee for the Left Democratic Front (LDF) demanded here on Wednesday that the government of the Union to withdraw or change an order that threatens the depiction of Thrissur Pooram fireworks. The meeting stressed that the decision threatens the tradition of Poramam and demanded immediate steps to solve the problem.
The meeting demanded that the deputy Thrissur and the Minister of Trade Unions Suresh Gopi to fulfill his promises in this respect. The Committee also asked why the meeting was held in Delhi, as announced by the Minister of the Union. Mr. Gopi previously announced that the Devaswom Council meeting will take place on April 9 to solve this problem.
The state government has already organized consultations and introduced practical measures to ensure the smooth behavior of PORAM. However, the Union Government Directive has created uncertainty about the exposure of fireworks, which led to concern among people, said the LDF District Committee and called for immediate steps to alleviate fear.
The meeting, chaired by the district secretary of CPI KK Valsarajan, was attended by the district connector of LDF KV Abdul Khader and other LDF leader.
