Bazaar Street in Chittoor City was decorated with color because the Jatar Gang celebrations will start from today. The devotees will throw themselves into the city from early hours after worshiping the goddess Gangamma Thalli, considered the protectors of the region from epidemics, natural calamities and famine. The festival attracts the participation of all communities of the same generations and community spirit.
During the Telug Moon “Chaitra”, Jatar is the return of the goddess and the inhabitants of the Chittoor, inviting her to its center by offering special prayers and offers. It’s time for a family meeting; When schools close for summer holidays, families call on relatives to join the celebrations.
The Standout feature of the Jatera is the “Mahakumbha Naivedyam”, a unique culinary offer of a goddess with six different traditional dishes – Ragi Ambali (Finger Millet Worridge), spicy Fish curry, boiled eggs, Brinjal curry, Moringa bowl and leafware.
Given that 13 and 14 May are the key days of the Jaters, and in anticipation of massive crowds, the police took complicated security and logistics measures to ensure that the festival would be led without a hinge.
The last day of the Jatera looks at intense devotion, because the devoted “OM Shakti” performs “incredible actions”, such as the penetration of their tongues, back and limbs with iron rods. This ritual attracts great crowds.
