In a significant move to the strengthening regional infrastructure, the Cabinet of the Union approved a long-waiting doubling of the Tirupati railway line via Chittoor sanctioning 1,332 Crore.
Chittoor Daggumalla Prasada Rao said on Wednesday on Wednesday that an ambitious railway project will include the construction of a double line 104 km, which will encourage the Chittoor railway and transport network in the region.
“The project has remained a distant dream of people in the district for three decades. I am glad that my efforts have led to the fact that today’s key proposal has become a reality,” said Prazada Rao. The deputy said that the rail project would end the suffering of people in Chittoor and the surrounding areas as express trains that previously circumvented the Chittoor railway station would stop regularly.
“Railway connectivity will be very beneficial to pilgrims visiting Tirumal, Srikalahasti and Kanipakam in Chittoor and Tirupati districts, as well as the Golden Temple near Vellore,” said the deputy, adding that it would strengthen the tourist potential in the Chittoor district. Mr. Prasada Rao further reiterated that he would continue to work towards the timely implementation of the project.
