
The inheritance of the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, is a thorn in relations in China-India, said the Chinese Embassy in NovĂ˝ Delhi on Sunday, as the Indian Foreign Minister is preparing to visit China for the first time from the deadly border clashes in 2020.

“As experts in foreign affairs, they should be fully aware of the sensitivity of Xizang issues and that reincarnation and the sequence of the Dalai Lama is by its very nature a Chinese internal affair that deals with any intervening,” she wrote.

At the beginning of this month, the Dalai Lama claimed that the trust of Tibetan Buddhists would have the only authority to recognize his future reincarnation. China responded angrily to the remarks of the Dalai Lama and stated that its reincarnation should be approved by the Chinese government.
The Tibetans believe that the soul of every older Buddhist monk is reincarnated after his death, but China says that the sequence of the Dalai Lama will also have to be approved by its leaders.
The Dalai Lama has lived in exile in India since 1959 after an unsuccessful uprising against the Chinese government in Tibet, and Indian experts in foreign relations claim that his presence gives a new dille lever effect against China. India is also home to about 70,000 Tibetans and Tibetan government in exile.
