The police registered the case to explore the “unnatural death” of a nine -year -old girl who underwent treatment of fever at the Government Hospital in Thamarassery. The investigation started after her parents’ complaints that the girl was not treated in time and was transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Kozhikode.
The victim, identified as Anaya Sanoop, was a student of Class IV from Korangad. On Thursday night (August 14, 2025) the child succumbed to MCH. Her parents claimed that her condition was getting worse because the hospital authorities in Thamarassery did not provide early and adequate medical assistance during the golden hour of that morning. They claimed that MCH was ceded in the evening to cover the outages in the treatment.
Meanwhile, the Government Hospital Authorities in Thamarassery said that the accusation was unfounded and that the cause of death would be clear after Mort’s report. They also stated that the girl was transferred to MCH after all possible treatment support was provided.
MCH sources said that the laboratory report from the microbiology department confirmed it as a case of amoebic meningoencephalitis. They said two siblings of the deceased child, along with another close relative, were already placed under the quarantine after showing symptoms. The survey was also carried out at their Gram Panchayat Ward as part of increased monitoring measures, they added.
