Outside bypass shivamogg you can see a clutch of rental from wooden poles and plastic leaves. It is a dwelling of microscopic nomad communities that have settled here for decades. Almost 150 people belonging to the Sindhol, Sudagad Sidda and Shillekyatha, live on site, without electricity and toilets.
Once children are preparing to go to schools, the older ones leave the camp to get a living. While some of them, especially women, collect plastic waste material thrown in public places, others walk around the selling of stationery, ornaments, dishes, etc. Only a few are still looking for an alms that wear traditional clothing, as it would traditionally do. In this settlement, only two of the universities have entered in recent years. No one has work with normal income.
School children of the camp studied under street lights in a neighboring location. When it is dark, the lights are shining or the battery controlled lights on. They are dependent on the trader in the neighboring location to charge their mobile phones and batteries. The merchant charges 5 ₹ for some time of mobile phone billing.
No toilets
“The main problem is the absence of toilets. All of them, especially women, are facing big problems. For years we have demanded toilets,” said Saritha, resident.

Four residents of the camp were recently in Bengalur to participate in the protest of the nomadic communities against the way the internal reservation was introduced. The inhabitants are angry that the government did not consider its situation in deciding on the recommendations of the HN justice Commission Nagamohan DAS for the internal reservation.
According to the Nagamohan Das Commission, the Sudagad Sidda, 45,989 Shillekyathas and 5,337 Sindhol (Chindoll) are 36,431 in the state 36,431. According to the Commission report from these communities, there are almost no government employees. None of the Sindholu Chindoll community has reached government offices. There is 246 between Sudagad Sidda and there are 291 in government services among Shillekyathy. Almost all of them are in Group C or D tasks.
59 communities
The Commission considered 59 such communities, with a total population of 5.22 lakh, the most confident, and placed them in category A. recommended for them 1% of the reservation. Members of the community hoped that the Government would be recommended by the Commission.
However, the government decided to merge 59 microscopic communities with “less backward” communities – Bhovis, Lambanis, Korama, Kora – and assigned 5% of the reservation. As a result, the “most backward” community must fight with “less backward” communities to claim the benefits of reservation, they say.
“It’s like newly literate people who compete with university professors,” Hussaainppa, resident of the camp. “Many people from Lambani, Bh, Korama and Korach have become higher officers and university professors. However, our children have just started to go to school and study under lighting. How can we compete with them? It is a serious injustice for the community,” he added.
Continuing protests
Since Monday, Karnataka Asprusya Alemari Samudayagal Maha OKKOOT (Federation of Nomadic Communities), she announced the indefinite Dharna in the new Delhi to protest the way the internal reserve was carried out. Protests also continue in Bengalur. Some activists tried to siege the Minister of Social Security HC Mahadevapp on Friday.
